39 Years After Roe - Will we rise up and stop the bloodshed?
I had the chance to speak at a pro-life rally for a few minutes last summer in Orlando, Florida. I began my short message by asking the question, “How many people here got involved in pro-life ministry after seeing a pro-life film or video?” I estimated that about 5 to 10 percent of the people at the rally raised their hands.
I consider the DVDs listed below to be world changers. I have met so many people who have been converted to the pro-life position or thrust into pro-life ministry after watching one of them. Ronald Reagan became convinced of the horror of abortion after seeing The Silent Scream. We’ve seen babies saved in central Florida and elsewhere as a result of Abortion Clinic 911 Calls. What could be more fitting on the 39th anniversary of the beginning of abortion on demand in the United States than watching Reversing Roe: The Norma McCorvey Story, in which Miss Norma, the plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, tells abut her conversion to Christ and her decision to enter full-time pro-life ministry.
I’ve known several full-time ministers who were called to the pro-life battle as a result of watching Massacre of Innocence. This week we are distributing 1000 copies of the update to Massacre called The Abortion Matrix. It’s our prayer that the new version, which is a much improved, remade presentation with lots of additional material, will have the same impact that Massacre of Innocence did 25 years ago.

The Abortion Matrix: Defeating Child Sacrifice and the Culture of Death (DVD)
Is there a connection between pagan religion and the abortion industry?
This powerful presentation traces the biblical roots of child sacrifice and then delves into the social, political and cultural fall-out that this sin against God and crime against humanity has produced in our beleaguered society.
Conceived as a sequel and update to the 1988 classic, The Massacre of Innocence, the new title, The Abortion Matrix, is entirely fitting. It not only references abortion’s specific target – the sacred matrix where human beings are formed in the womb in the very image of God, but it also implies the existence of a conspiracy, a matrix of seemingly disparate forces that are driving this holocaust.
The occult activity surrounding the abortion industry is exposed with numerous examples. But are these just aberrations, bizarre yet anomalous examples of abortionists who just happen to have ties to modern day witchcraft? Or is this representative of something deeper, more sinister and even endemic to the entire abortion movement?
As the allusion to the film of over a decade ago suggests, the viewer may learn that things are not always as they appear to be. The Abortion Matrix reveals the reality of child-killing and strikes the proper moral chord to move hearts to fulfill the biblical responsibility to rescue those unjustly sentenced to death and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 24:11,12; 31:8,9).
Speakers include: George Grant, Peter Hammond, RC Sproul Jr., Paul Jehle, Lou Engle, Rusty Thomas, Flip Benham, Janet Porter and many more.

Massacre of Innocence (DVD)
Exposing The Occult Roots of Abortion
This presentation looks at the spiritual roots of abortion and exposes the myths surrounding child killing. Little known historical facts about abortion and how they relate to modern feminism are presented logically and accurately. Has been effective in converting many to a pro-life position.
Massacre of Innocence goes where no pro-life presentation has gone before in “tearing the lid off abortion” to reveal the spiritual realities we must battle if we will bring an end to this crime. The presentation is absorbing, fast-paced, informative and incredibly devastating to any attempt to justify abortion.
“… an extraordinary statement … a powerfully articulate presentation about what abortion really means, and why a great and moral nation like the United States must not allow the slaughter to continue.”

The Silent Scream (DVD) Eight Languages
“When the lives of the unborn are snuffed out, they often feel pain, pain that is long and agonizing.” – President Ronald Reagan to National Religious Broadcasters Convention, January 1981
Ronald Reagan became convinced of this as a result of watching The Silent Scream – a movie he considered so powerful and convicting that he screened it at the White House. More recently, it was by catching just a glimpse of what this film reveals that Planned Parenthood director and abortion advocate Abby Johnson turned and became a strong advocate for the pre-born.
The modern technology of real-time ultrasound now reveals the actual responses of a 12-week old fetus to being aborted. As the unborn child attempts to escape the abortionist’s suction curette, her motions can be seen to become desperately agitated and her heart rate doubles. Her mouth opens – as if to scream – but no sound can come out. Her scream doesn’t have to remain silent, however … not if you will become her voice. This newly re-mastered version features eight language tracks and two bonus videos.
“…a high technology “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” arousing public opinion just as Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 1852 antislavery novel ignited the abolitionist movement.” – Sen. Gordon Humphrey, Time Magazine

Orlando Abortion Center Worker Quits - Salvation Testimony
I spent about two hours with this young woman at lunch after church on Sunday, August 21st, 2011, one day after she quit working at a local abortion center. Meeting with her, having the opportunity to share my faith and what I sensed the Holy Spirit prompted me to say to her was one of the most profound moments of my life. I told her that God had another job for her making more money.
I hope that people who read this blog will pray for Clarissa. I know that “the effectual fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). More abortion center workers will quit and come to serve God in 2012 in Jesus’ name!
Today was the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, almost exactly five months after she walked off her job. She gave the following testimony this morning:
Reported by Deanna Waller
An abortion clinic worker in Orlando quit on the spot one Saturday morning, August 20th, 2011 after talking with pro-life sidewalk counselor Daniel Howell and several of the sidewalk team who minister each week at All Women’s Health Center abortion mill in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She never made it inside. We invited her to church the next day. She attended and sat with us.
Clarissa came to church again the next week and publicly professed faith in Christ during an evangelistic service. She has not missed a Sunday at church since and has been attending a small group with a family on Sunday evenings. She is also attending a financial freedom class at this church, Freedom Fellowship in Apopka, Florida, on Thursday evenings.
Everyone did a wonderful job at pulling together to help her financially and spiritually during this new season of her life. A few weeks later, we got a text message from Clarissa saying:
“Woooooo! PRAISE GOD! I got a job at a Dr’s office starting Wed! It’s part time but will go full time!”
The new job was near her home and she began making $1.00 and hour more than she was making at the abortion center. Since then, she became full-time and has recently been promoted.
Clarissa took a very bold step of faith quitting on the spot and turning away from evil without a financial safety net. She is a single mom with four children and is post-abortive herself. If you have a heart for pro-life ministry, pray for her because she has said she wants to begin volunteering in some type of pro-life outreach.
Election 2012: What Will You Do?
It’s not about Mitt, Newt, Ron, Rick or Rick! It’s about, what will you do?
The lack of a bold, explicitly Christian political social theory, as a base for conservative activism, has confined conservatives to the roll of mere reactionaries. So-called conservatives within the Republican Party have failed to sanction renegades within their own ranks for their support of abortion. They have failed to overthrow special rights for homosexuals. They’ve continued funding for the unconstitutional and lurid National Endowment for the Arts. They support so-called campaign finance reform which is an attempt to muzzle the voice of Orthodoxy. And most importantly, they continue to roll over for the destabilizing socialism, China-accommodating, and treasonous wretch, Barack Obama in order to accommodate some mythical notion of courting “independents.”
There is nothing new with this predictable conservative slide to perdition. The conservative “bark” is always bigger than its “bite.” Looking at the past thirty years of conservatism we find a movement which never conserves anything. Rather, its history has been to demur to each aggression of humanistic liberalism after a respectable amount of growling. Hence, despite rabid rhetoric, conservatives acquiesce to the latest innovation of liberal radicalism no matter how extreme.
Abortion, homosexual rights, animal rights, socialistic wealth redistribution, values clarification, gun control, environmental earth worship, social thought police, destruction of health care and the politicization of the military have all been resisted by conservatives. Yet such resistance has produced little toward victorious results. In fact, the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism. Symbolically, conservatism meekly follows in the shadow of liberalism. Conservatives merely react to the liberal’s comprehensive, man-centered world view and political social theory. They do not have an immutable base of ethics from which to advance their own views. Ergo, they are always on the defensive, unable, even when stopping a liberal advance, to reverse direction and take back the ground lost.
DeTocqueville predicted the inability of conservative politicos to stop radicalism over a century ago because of “the selfish timidity of her public men. They’ve become a brood of narrow, cowardly worshipers of present expediency.” Today, conservatives opt for “Republican consensus” rather than justice for the innocent. They are even unwilling to sanction those within their own party who support state sanctioned, state sponsored murder in the form of abortion. With such compromised half way measures the “take no prisoner” liberal utopians will win every time! Babies will be slaughtered, families decimated, homosexuality codified, private wealth will be continually eroded and confiscated and the nation brought to ruination.
Until conservatives eschew the inane dribble of personality cults in favor of the immutable ethics of God’s Word, no great national reform will be advanced, and America will suffer the dire consequences of paganism run amok. It’s not about Mitt, Newt, Ron, Rick and Rick! It is about Christ as Lord giving life and vigor to American exceptionalism, or allowing the anti-American Obama define the rules of the game. 2012 is the year! What will you do?
Perfect Candidate, Perfect Electorate
Despite all the heated rhetoric, the fact remains that the perfect candidate does not exist. Moreover, the American electorate is far from any standard of Christian orthodoxy or Constitutional integrity. Still this nation has not faced so urgent a threat to its very existence since the late 1970’s. Obama has undermined national security, thrown down moral cultural restraint, upbraided notions of free-enterprise, and wealth creation, destroyed health care, and seeks to subjugate our national being to internationalist cabals of socialists.
The peril is real! The ignorance of the populace is real! The response must be cogent, mature, and robust!
The election of 2012 must be decisive at the Federal level, at the state level, and throughout counties, cities, towns and hamlets. The priority is first the nation’s survival and then its reformation. That means once the elections are over, the same kind of vigor and devotion to educate, inform, and pressure elected officials must be demonstrated as in the elections! That is more than protesting what is wrong, but proclaiming what is right! It means thinking through real solutions! It means real work! So while 2012 is the year to save the republic, it also signals the pressing need for the renovation of the republic in subsequent years.
Again: what will you do?

Sonny Bono: More Conservative than Gingrich or Santorum
While you might think it’s impossible to put a scientific number on how liberal or conservative a United States Representative or Senator is, the folks at Vote View have been doing that for years. The website was established in 1995 and the purpose was to publish the data resulting from the research of political science professors Howard Rosenthal and Keith Poole.
Although I won’t cite the list all 3,320 Presidents, House and Senate members in the survey, a complete listing can be found in a 2004 article by Keith Poole: Is John Kerry a Liberal? Scrolling through the scores, you might find it interesting to find out that Sonny Bono had a more conservative voting record than Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum. You might also find it interesting that there is one presidential candidate, who is currently in second place in delegate count as of this date, who was by far the most conservative representative over a 65 year period in American history — and arguably the most conservative congressman of all time.
Here is the explanation of the data.
Below is a listing from left to right of all 3,320 individuals who served in either or both the House and the Senate from 1937 to 2002. Senator Kerry is number 478 and President Bush is number 2,971. The Common Space Score is the number in the furthest right column. (These scores are very highly correlated with the corresponding DW-NOMINATE Scores by Chamber.) Note that the Presidents are also shown in the coordinates below. Their coordinates are based upon Presidential Support Roll Calls compiled by Congressional Quarterly. These are typically a fraction of the total roll calls cast so the Presidential scores are very noisy compared to the members of Congress.
Pro-life Issues: Direct Action vs. Indirect Action
Which is more effective?
Political activist and journalist Lawrence E. Alba wrote this morning to opine on the most recent installment of The Abortion Matrix. I am always amazed when liberals tell us to “change the law!” in response to our pro-life street activism. This is a response I’ve heard for over 20 years. Of course, when laws are about to be enacted in response to the abortion epidemic, we hear: “Keep your laws off my body!” I have always argued for the importance for cultural change followed by political action. Christian social reform must be from the bottom-up, not the top-down. I also find it interesting that Alba, if he is being honest here and not merely patronizing, is an example of the rare life-long liberal and Obama supporter who sees abortion as a “social plague.”
Although I appreciate your commitment to the elimination of this enigmatic modern social plague, I don’t share your sense of off-putting militancy. The problem is that the culture of “choice” did not come about through aggressive hectoring and militancy, but through the courts … one test case at a time. I battle it there and find I’m making more effective progress. – Lawrence E. Alba
My Response:
Dear Lawrence,
Thank you for your reply. Which is more effective in bringing social change — direct action or indirect action? It’s an interesting controversy to say the least.
I would never state that we should not use the courts or political solutions and concentrate only on evangelism, sidewalk counseling and other forms of direct action at abortion clinics — or what you call “militancy.” Both are used, and we have used both effectively in the pro-life movement.
We need to beware of the either-or fallacy here. If we study history, we will find that it is a combination of direct action and indirect political and judicial action that accomplishes social change. However, most often it is direct action that begins the process and is most effective in changing cultural attitudes. Many years later we see the laws changed.
By way of example, the underground railroad and civil disobedience over slavery resulted in the negative outcome of the Dred Scott decision. But that set off a chain of events that finally resulted in the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments. Slavery was not eliminated through the federal courts. Quite to the contrary, it took the direct action of those who defied the law and brought social conflict. It was the so-called “militancy” of the anti-slavery and abolitionist movement – that drove the work of great figures such as the Beecher family, William Lloyd Garrison and Frederick Douglas.
Ironically. what is most often called “militancy,” is a peaceful campaign for public awareness. In contrast, the “effective progress” of many years of trying to overturn Roe v. Wade might never end abortion simply because abortion laws would revert to the states and cultural local attitudes would influence laws at the state and local level. Thus local direct action is needed whether Roe remains in place or not.
In the civil rights movement, we see the same principle at work. A world-changing essay everyone should read at least once is Martin Luther King’s Letter From Birmingham Jail. I read this letter with my classes every year as a comparison to the direct action parable-drama Antigone, by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles. In both examples, the question is asked: How do good people respond when man’s law violates God’s law? In “Letter From Birmingham Jail,” King outlines the steps that must precede direct action. He also proposes the axiom that “politicians don’t see the light until they feel the heat.”
Although one might criticize the unorthodox theological positions of some of the above figures, I find the idea of direct action is soundly based on biblical principle. King argued that the Apostles did not lobby to change the law before they preached the Gospel, but they immediately resolved to “obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). Ultimately when the Gospel spread over several centuries, the laws were changed.
It’s also untrue that the “pro-choice” side did not use militant direct action. This position shows an ignorance of the tactics Margaret Sanger employed. Sanger used direct activism in being arrested at least eight times for defying birth control laws. Her direct action finally resulted in the change in public attitude toward the so-called “right to privacy,” which many decades later resulted in Griswold vs. Connecticut, which in turn resulted a decade later in Roe v. Wade.
A wonderful book, which shows how abortion has been defeated several times in the annals of Christian history, is George Grant’s The Third Time Around. Grant chronicles how both direct and indirect action working together brought the reforms – when abortion and child sacrifice proliferated in the time of Basil of Caesarea in the fourth century and then again in the Middle Ages. Now we are fighting abortion the “third time around.” We can expect the same reforms if we follow the tried and true biblical model.
In my personal experience, we saw in Brevard County Florida the number of abortions fall over a nine year period (1988 to 1997) by 52 percent, while the state average of abortions went up. Finally, the last remaining abortion clinic in Brevard county closed and one has not since returned.
Florida Today, our local liberal newspaper, in a front page, above-the fold headline, interviewed central Florida abortion clinic owners and our local direct activists. They asked the question: What legislation caused the number of abortions to drop? What court cases were the cause of eliminating Brevard county’s only blood mill?
None we could see.
In the final analysis, all observers agreed that although a variety of factors contributed to this, the presence of street evangelists and sidewalk counselors creating awareness through direct action based on the principles of God’s Word was the primary cause of that trend.
See: Why is the Brevard County abortion rate 52% less than the Florida average?

Dr. Francis Schaeffer - A Christian Manifesto (DVD)
That Swiss Hermit Strikes Again!
Dr. Schaeffer, who was one of the most influential Christian thinkers in the twentieth century, shows that secular humanism has displaced the Judeo-Christian consensus that once defined our nation’s moral boundaries. Law, education, and medicine have all been reshaped for the worse as a consequence. America’s dominant worldview changed, Schaeffer charges, when Christians weren’t looking.
Schaeffer lists two reasons for evangelical indifference: a false concept of spirituality and fear. He calls on believers to stand against the tyranny and moral chaos that come when humanism reigns-and warns that believers may, at some point, be forced to make the hard choice between obeying God or Caesar. A Christian Manifesto is a thought-provoking and bracing Christian analysis of American culture and the obligation Christians have to engage the culture with the claims of Christ.

Go Stand Speak (DVD)
With “preaching to the lost” being such a basic foundation of Christianity, why do many in the church seem to be apathetic on this issue of preaching in highways and byways of towns and cities?
Is it biblical to stand in the public places of the world and proclaim the gospel, regardless if people want to hear it or not?
Does the Bible really call church pastors, leaders and evangelists to proclaim the gospel in the public square as part of obedience to the Great Commission, or is public preaching something that is outdated and not applicable for our day and age?
These any many other questions are answered in this documentary.
