About Us: The Forerunner

At this web site are articles from Christian newspapers published by university students from the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Latin America and China. We also host several web sites of related Christian organizations involved in promoting Revival in the Church and the Reformation of society.
The Forerunner is a grass-roots organization which is dedicated to the training of student interns to produce media. The Forerunner assumes an explicitly biblical worldview. Our long term goal is to bring all types of media under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We are Christians who desire to see the kingdom of God advanced in the world through the media. In short, our goal is to help fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) through the media.
Our Purpose
The Forerunner trains and equips young people worldwide to produce media so that they may impact and ultimately transform their own culture according to biblical principles. Our model on-line publication is The Forerunner, which provides information, articles and resources to other organizations who make up a world-wide network of publications and media proclaiming a victorious Christian worldview.
Here is a list of just some of the publications we have produced:
The Forerunner (1981-1994) was a publication with an emphasis on the reformation of society and biblical worldview. The Forerunner was published by Maranatha Ministries from 1981 to 1989. Most of the articles from 1987 through 1994 appear at this site. Contributing editors and correspondents from Russia, Ukraine, China, Latin America, South Africa, Turkey, Pakistan and many other countries wrote many of the articles. These are reports from young people who produced similar publications. You will be encouraged when you read the reports of what God has done to advance His kingdom in the earth in our day.
Predvestnik (The Russian language Forerunner), was produced in Kiev, Ukraine. This student run publication was founded in July 1991 and has played a significant role in bringing the Christian message to the former USSR. In its first seven years, Media House Ukraine produced 20 issues of Predvestnik and distributed over 400,000 copies throughout the former USSR, as well as other books and publications
The Mandate We worked with a ministry called Churches Serving Internationals to produce a newspaper, in English and Chinese, which reached Chinese students studying in the United States. The on-line version has made an impact on students and intellectuals throughout China.
El Campeón, a Spanish newspaper, was produced in cooperation with Champions for Christ (Campeones para Cristo) for Latin America. The goal was to sow the printed word in the high school and college campuses during evangelism outreaches in countries such as Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama and Colombia. Some copies were even distributed in Cuba.
The Turkish Forerunner is an on-line collection of articles written and translated by a young minister from Turkey — a nation of 70 million people with less than 4000 church-going Christians. We are working together to build a Turkish language website that we believe will become significant since Christian literature is rare in this “gateway” nation to the Muslim world.
The Pakistani Forerunner is an outreach to the 270 million speakers of the Urdu language throughout the Middle East and the world. Although Urdu is widely spoken there are few Urdu language websites featuring Christian teachings. We are working with a young woman from Pakistan who has a burden to translate the best articles from The Forerunner.
The Vision
We live in a time in world history that promises to be significant for the goal of world evangelization. Never before has the Church had such a great opportunity to reach so many with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that God himself has raised up a “forerunner” to reach many nations.
Today, God requires a new wineskin to hold the new wine that He is pouring out in the nations. As the Holy Spirit has directed the Church toward the great task of evangelizing the nations, we must pray that God will use us to fulfill this mandate. God himself has shown us through scripture that there will be a dramatic multiplication of ministry as Christians reach out with an increasingly international focus.
Instead of just having one publication, or attempting to build a media organization, we want to equip many to produce dynamic Christian media around the world. We will accomplish all this — and much more — as we multiply our vision into others. In turn, they will multiply what they know into even more lives – and on and on. Instead of being just “one” there will be many.
