Un Aborto Una Vida Que Termina

En forma y muy sútil sorpresiva varios grupos, medios de comunicación y personas han comenzado a plantear que el aborto sea descriminalizado en Latinoamérica. Esto tiene implicaciones y consecuencias muy serias para nuestra sociedad y su futuro.
Todos los planteamientos que pretenden legalizar el aborto parten del punto de vista de que la mujer (debiera ser la madre) necesita mejor atención y más higiene en el momento de someterse a un aborto. Es decir, la idea es que la mujer necesita de esta operación para deshacerse de algo que le molesta (cualquiera sea el motivo) y por tanto debiera contar con mejor asistencia médica para lograrlo.
Lo que se pasa por alto, no sé si consciente o inconscientemente, es el hecho de que ese “algo” del que la mujer desea liberarse, mediante la operación quirúrgica conocida como aborto, es un ser humano, su propio hijo(a).
En Bolivia, al igual que en los otros países Latinoamericanos, el aborto es un delito penado con varios años de prisión para la madre, el padre (que consiente) y el médico (o persona) que realiza el aborto, no porque se desea poner obstáculos a la buena atención médica para la mujer, sino porque, como lo dice el mismo Código Penal Boliviano se está causando “la muerte de un feto (latín: phoetus, pequeño) en el seno materno.” En otras palabras, sólo se puede causar la muerte de algo que está vivo. En este caso un ser humano vivo.
No es necesario entrar en consideraciones religiosas o teológicas (muy relevantes a este tema pero no las únicas) para darse cuenta que el “producto de la concepción” dentro del seno materno no es otra cosa que un ser humano vivo y en desarrollo. Así lo ha confirmado la ciencia médica en un sinnúmero de pronunciamientos, estudios y tratados médicos.
Algunos plantean que la mujer embarazada tiene problemas financieros para mantener a su bebé, o que tiene problemas sicológicos debido a la ilegitimidad del padre, o simplemente ya tiene un número de hijos y no desea tener más. Por tanto, dicen, hay que facilitarle el deshacerse de ese inconveniente a través de clínicas legalmente establecidas e higiénicas y bien atendidas y de ese modo evitar las complicaciones para la madre. Este es el criterio de eficiencia, que plantea que para hacer algo debería hacérselo bien y en forma limpia y adecuada. La eficiencia en el campo médico se justifica con toda razón cuando una persona se va a someter a una operación en la que se le extraerá un tumor, o un apéndice en mal estado, o unas amigdalas que causan más problemas que beneficios. Pero insistimos, el aborto de lo que se está hablando es de un ser humano, de una persona, !a la cual se está asesinando! Esto debiera quedar bien claro en las mentes de todos nosotros. No se está deshaciendo la madre de algo maligno, o dañino a la salud, sino que está quitándole la vida a un ser humano.
Algunos dirán que el niño no nacido es parte del cuerpo de la madre y ella tiene derecho sobre su cuerpo. Esta es otra falacia, primero porque el feto es un ser humano con vida independiente de la de su madre, que aunque este unido por el cordón umbilical y se encuentre en el seno de su madre, esto no lo convierte en parte del cuerpo de su madre, como lo sería una mano, un hígado, etc. Además, si no tenemos derechos absolutos sobre nuestros propios cuerpos, menos podemos tenerlos sobre el cuerpo de nuestro hijos. Por eso están prohibidos: la prostitución, el drogarse, el suicidarse, etc., acciones que se realizan sobre nuestro propio cuerpo, pero que son ilegales desde el punto de vista de la sociedad y de sus leyes.
Por supuesto que requerimos de eficiencia, pulcritud y excelencia para llevar a cabo nuestras actividades. Pero cuando la eficiencia es el único punto de referencia en relación a la vida humana, podemos terminar en una tragedia. La experiencia de Hitler y su deseo de “purificar la raza humana” es una lección que no podemos olvidar.
Por otra parte, si como sociedad perdemos el respeto por la vida de los niños no nacidos, el siguiente paso será deshacernos de los ancianos (eutanasia), y ¿después?, ¿se matará a los niños pobres (entre 5 y 13 años) como se ha denunciado en Brasil? La experiencia de los Estados Unidos, por ejemplo, que luego de legalizar el aborto ahora se encuentra en una batalla por legalizar la eutanasia, debería ser una llamada de atención para todos. Por supuesto, los grupos pro-vida en Estados Unidos continúan su batalla por lograr que la Corte Suprema declare al aborto un crimen, luego de que en estos casi veinte años de legalización del aborto la matanza ha cobrado millones de vidas (de no nacidos) y la industria del aborto ha florecido hasta colocarse en una de las más lucrativas de ese país.
Para los que quieren “libertad de elección” sobre tener o no un hijo(a), la “elección” debería producirse antes de la relación sexual (para eso está la abstinencia y en último caso los medios anticonceptivos) y no cuando ya ha sido engendrado un niño. E inclusive en el caso de una violación, un crimen sumamente abominable y que debería ser castigado con toda drasticidad, el abortar constituye una segunda violación a esa ya maltrecha mujer que además tiene que soportar la muerte de un ser humano en su seno.
Reconocemos que existe mucha pobreza en la mayoría de los países, que hay madres que ya tienen desmasiados hijos para mantener, que hay mujeres que han sido objeto de vejámenes sexuales y se sienten avergonzadas, que, en definitiva, las condiciones económicas no son las mejores. Pero cualquiera de estas situaciones no justifica, desde ningún punto de vista, el quitar la vida a un ser humano. La adopción podría ser una solución alternativa.
El quitar la vida a un ser humano, a sabiendas y voluntariamente, debería repugnar la conciencia de todo ser humano, sea religioso o no.
