Nuestra Latinoamerica Contradictoria

Cuánto amamos y cuánto nos duele, nuestra Latinoamérica contradictoria. Cómo no quisieramos verla libre, próspera y grande. Pero todavía falta algo. Inmersa en ese algo está la necesidad de ser autocríticos, de reconocer nuestros errores, de identificar nuestros problemas, de aceptar nuestra responsabilidad en resolverlos.
Una Latinoamérica tan rica en recursos naturales, pero dependiente de la ayuda e influencia extranjera. Una Latinoamérica profundamente india y mestiza, donde sin embargo se valora más lo “blanco” que lo “otro”. Tierra de profunda religiosidad, pero insuficiente moral, donde la ley se acata (siempre se acata), pero no se cumple. De políticos que, salvo excepciones, se lucran de la miseria del pueblo, más interesados en redistribuir el capital que en producirlo. Un continente que desconfía de lo propio y mira hacia lo ajeno y al mismo tiempo se cree víctima inocente y sin culpa de la “intervención extranjera”. Donde el autoritarismo es cotidiano, en la iglesia, en el estado, en la familia, en la empresa. Tierra de muchos machos, pero no suficientes hombres.
¡Ay, de nuestra Latinoamérica contradictoria! Tantos patriotas que pasaron por la historia, y tan pocos héroes que imitar. De presidentes que dicen preferir a su nación por encima de su familia, sin importarles la destrucción de ésta última, dizque, para salvar a la nación. De niños y jóvenes que preferirían tener una familia unida y protectora, antes que una economía fuerte o una sociedad “primermundista”. Donde ahora todos quieren ser “originarios” pero sin reconocer lo indígena en ellos mismos, ni amar como hermanos a los campesinos pobres, a los marginados y discriminados. Donde todavía priva el apellido, la tradición, el dinero, importando menos la honestidad, el trabajo esforzado, la autorealización sacrificial.
Cómo no quisieramos ver que se respete la libertad de opinión y pensamiento, y no se deshumanize e insulte a cualquiera que esté en contra de la posición “oficial”. Que los gobernantes dejen de creerse reyes y señores y sean lo que son, servidores públicos. Que los caudillos no manipulen, incluso métodos democráticos, para perpetuar su gobierno. Que los ciudadanos sean activos partícipes y forjadores de una nueva patria latinoamericana y no pasivos cómplices del status quo.
Que se deje de lado el paternalismo de políticos, religiosos y otros que siempre saben mejor que el pueblo, lo que el pueblo quiere o necesita. Que la ética recupere su dimensión moral, que el celibato sea con castidad, que el ansia de riqueza sea acompañado de solidaridad y generosidad, que la mentira no sea institucional, el adulterio la norma, la explotación un medio de producción. Que tengamos una sociedad con más héroes y menos mártires.
Latinoamérica puede y confiamos en que será grande. ¡Que Dios nos ayude en esta gran tarea!
