Rocky Balboa movie has a Christian theme

Last Friday, I listened to a conference call between ministry leaders and Sylvester Stallone. He talked about his Christian faith and described himself as being “reborn” and dependent on church life for help in his spiritual walk.

Stallone also talked about the plot of the new Rocky Balboa movie as having a Christian theme. And, believe it or not, an upcoming Rambo 4 movie will have an even more overt Christian plot. Apparently, Rambo will also be reborn after encountering group of persecuted Christian missionaries in Burma.

UPDATE: If you find this fascinating, you can listen to the whole telephone conversation.

Wow, that's really fascinating to hear about that change in Stallone's life. I can see bringing a Christian message into the Rocky franchise, but Rambo seems like a more difficult film to reconcile with a Christian message, knowing the extreme ultra-violence of the films in this series.
You really need to hear the interview to see what he is intending. He basically has Rambo as an older disillusioned man who goes to free some Christian missionaries who are being held captive. When he encounters the faith of these people, it affects him deeply. Or at least that is the plan.
It makes sense... he really has no way to sell the movie and is thus targeting an audience proven to support slop, as long as the message is centered in their silly religion.

Sad, that more don't see through the trick, but oh well.
O well! ... Sadly more don't realize that as the Apostle Paul said, "For you were saved by grace not by works lest any man should boast." If Sylvester Stallone is a Christian then he is saved despite his imperfections.

If you get a chance to see the original Rocky (I) movie, check out the opening scene. It proves that he meant to portray the character as a Christian from the very first frame. Perhaps now, at the twilight of his career as a film maker, he feels at liberty to make it more obvious.

I always thought that the character of Rocky is Christian -- never mind whether Stallone has lived a Christian life.

Listen though to the audio file link above -- it says it all.
the trick is to make MORE of THESE THINGS instead of the usual fare most enjoy -mindless borat like comedies-, sex-starved characters on TV.

sincere or not--if the Message gets out-the "slopping" masses will want to watch it. because believe it or not, that's what they need.

deep down
